TAAL, in Carnatic music is expressed with hand gestures. It is abstract but visible and audible only when a rhythmic instrument is played on.

Natuvangam is a special rhythmic instrument, mainly used for rhythmic expressions during BHARATNATYA. The Guru holds it for the Shishya's performance on the stage. Natuvangam has this unique power with its stresses, soft and loud with apt singing of the compositions.
